A NEW weekly music-making workshop for adults will launch later this month.
On Tuesday April 24, the Make Music with Wren sessions will launch at the church hall on Market Street from 10am to noon.
The Make Music sessions have been specially designed to appeal to people of all abilities and all ages from 16 upwards.
It is hoped that the musical mornings will bring together people from all walks of life, cultures and backgrounds, such as young parents, part-time workers, people not currently working, disabled people, and the retired.
Wren Music will provide a wide variety of musical instruments, including guitars, basses, fiddles, concertinas, and drums. No previous musical experience is necessary.
For people with their own instruments, all acoustic instruments are welcome, and there will be no audition process.
Tunes will be learned by ear, and no music reading skills will be needed, although written scores will be provided if desired.
The group will start with tunes drawn from English traditional music, and the repertoire will be developed over time.
The Make Music sessions will be guided by professional musicians David Faulkner and Becki Driscoll. The duo have years of experience leading community-based music projects across Devon and further afield.
The workshops are completely free, thanks to the support of the Okehampton United Charity and Devon County Council.
