AN appeal has gone out to people from the Okehampton area who have been married in the town hall.

The town council is trying to update the brochure it uses to promote use of the hall, and the Charter Hall, but is very short of wedding photographs to illustrate the facilities.

The issue was discussed by members of the council's properties committee at their meeting last week. Cllr Christine Marsh asked if it would be possible for one of the professional photographers in the town to be engaged to take some pictures.

Cllr Michael Ireland said: 'There is a camera club in the town — one suggestion could be if we offered them some kind of incentive to hold a competition for a photo related to our brochure. We could also suggest some different categories.

'Working with a group like that might be quite interesting — is it worth a try?'

The committee agreed the clerk should contact the secretary of Okehampton Camera Club to get their views on members' proposals.

Anyone who would like to submit wedding photographs relevant to the town hall for possible inclusion in the Charter Hall brochure should contact town clerk Don Bent on 01837 53179.
