THE threat of violence in an Okehampton supermarket and vandalism feature in this week’s Okehampton area crimes.

• THE police were called after a man entered Waitrose and threatened to punch a member of staff on Saturday, March 3. The incident happened between 10.20 and 10.30am. CCTV is being examined, CR/018522/18.

• CIGARETTES and alcohol were stolen from McColl’s on Okehampton Fore Street on Saturday, March 3 just after 5am. The thieves removed the latch from the locked front door to break into the premises, CR/018360/18, police are appealing for witnesses.

• A WING mirror was smashed on a 4x4 during a disagreement between a walker and a driver on North Road Industrial Estate, Okehampton after the 4x4 driver apparently honked his horn at the walker. The incident happened just after 10am on Saturday, March 3, CR/018400/18.

• AN attempt to steal a bag of food from a Spar shop in Okehampton succeeded, despite an attempt by staff to intervene. A man filled a carrier bag with food and walked out of the shop next to Mole Avon on the Exeter Road Industrial Estate during the evening of Saturday, March 3.

• VANDALS smashed the arm of an electric gate leading to a remote house near Beaworthy sometime between the evening of Sunday, March 4 and 9am on Tuesday, March 6. CR/019302/18.
