POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 68-year-old cyclist was found with serious head injuries on Dartmoor yesterday, August 26.
The man, from Essex, who appears to have been cycling alone, was found at 4.50pm lying unconscious on the B3212 between Postbridge and Moretonhampstead.
He sustained a serious head injury, considered life-changing, and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance.
He remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Collision investigators examined the scene while the road was closed for-three-and-a-half hours and police are now trying to establish how he became injured.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident and they are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen him cycling in the area.
The cyclist is described as white and was wearing an orange coat, black cycling shorts and a red and white cycle helmet.
He was riding a white Dawes road bike.
