A SELECTION of delicious scones, cookies, teas and coffees will be available in Okehampton when the town celebrates Fairtrade Fortnight this month.

Members of the Fairtrade Status Project will be offering free Fairtrade tea or coffee when they launch the event with a stall at the farmers' market on Saturday, February 20 from 9am to 1pm.

A Mad Hatter's Tea Party will be held to promote Fairtrade tea, scones and cookies, which will include a Crazy Hat competition for all age groups, with Fairtrade chocolate prizes.

The event will be held on Saturday, February 27 from 3pm till 5pm in the Baptist Church.

There is no charge, but donations would be greatly appreciated.

All Crazy Hat entries must be at the Baptist church hall by 3.30pm for judging.

Members of the Fairtrade Status Project expressed thanks to Somerfield (Co-op) and Waitrose for their support and to Dunn's of Exbourne for providing clotted cream for the cream teas.

The group will also welcome Fairtrade Cocoa producer Nicholas Kwame Adjei Gyua from Kuapo Kokoo Cocoa Growers' Co-operative, who will be spending the day visiting Okehampton College on Tuesday, March 2.
