I FULLY endorse all of the reported remarks made by Dr Michael Ireland (Okehampton Times March 28).

Surely a regular rail link to Exeter and beyond is the way forward in this day and age of rising fuel costs and overcrowded roads.

With the continued housing development in and around Okehampton, surely now is the time to put away the toys of heritage trains, Sunday excursions and the like and concentrate on providing this community with a regular service on National Rail using the infrastructure already provided by the Victorians.
