Okehampton’s Coventry Building Society desk, located in the Simpkins Edwards offices, is permanently closing at 12pm today.

The closure is part of a company-wide policy to shut down the agency network. This means desks providing Coventry Building Society services in other businesses will no longer be available.

The building society has said that transactions at the Okehampton desk have remained relatively stable since 2018, but average daily transactions are 87 per cent lower than the branch average.

Customers have already been informed of the move and will still be able to use telephone and digital services, access Coventry services at The Co-operative Bank in Exeter and take out cash at the Waitrose, Co-op and Post Office ATMs.
