residents will have a chance to learn something for nothing as part of Adult Learners' Week through workshops being run at Okehampton Library, Okehampton College and Belstone Village Hall.
Devon County Council is encouraging adults across the county to learn something new through its wide range of free events on offer from May 14 to May 20. All events are free.
Okehampton College is running a series of computing workshops to mark the week. The first two, held on Monday May 16, between 10am and 1pm, focus on an 'Introduction to Photoshop' and 'Facebook for Parents and Grandparents'.
A class for 'Making leaflets and posters' will take on May 18 between 10am and 1pm, with a 'Silver Surfers' internet course being held on May 19 between 10am and 12pm.
The college will also run a creative writing workshop on May 18 between 6pm and 9pm. For information on events at the college, call MyDevon on 0845 155 1014.
There will be two events at the library, with a puppet workshop for parents and their children (aged 5 to 10) based on CS Lewis' children's book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe on Saturday May 21 between 10.30am and 12.30pm. All resources will be provided.
The library's second event, a workshop on the art of calligraphy, runs on Tuesday May 24, but is already fully booked. Due to demand the library is looking into running a second workshop for those interested. To book for the puppet workshop or to register interest in calligraphy, call the library on 01837 52805.
