The air was full of the sound of jingling bells, accordions, drum beats, stick banging and the chanting of folk songs for the festival of traditional dance in the village square and the Plume of Feathers pub.

The event on Sunday, September 6 marked Dartmoor Border Morris’s quarter century of traditional dancing and attracted groups from Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. Groups included Pensans Morris, Savage Sisters, Lodestone Border Morris, Old Town Twelves, Winkleigh Morris, Plymouth Morris, Plymouth Clog, Grimspound Border Morris, Dartington Morris, Carn Brea Morris and the Barrel Morris.

A charity collection in aid of Shallowford Farm, at Widecombe, raised money to give youngsters at taste of rural life.
