THERE was a strong field of lady golfers vying for just one place in the Daily Mail Foursomes competition at Okehampton golf club this week.  Though the course is in excellent condition and a pleasure to play the ladies had to compete with very strong wind.  However the eventual winners were Jane Warren and Mary Keir with second place going to Lin Atkinson and Tricia Nilsson.  Jane and Mary will go on to represent the club in this prestigious national competition.

The President's cup team have also been in action again having gained themselves a place in the semi-finals of this competition, this year taking place at Stover Golf Club.  The team played with commitment and determination but lost out to a very strong team from Ilfracombe.

The Okehampton lady captain thanked all the members of the squad who have played throughout the year and especially to the team of the day,  Marcie Guy, Marcie Jones, Penny Deakin, Lyn Hazleton, Lin Atkinson, Cherry James, Pam Jarman and their caddies, for all their endeavours and congratulated them for getting to the semi-finals, no mean feat.  Better luck next year ladies.
