PUPILS at North Tawton Community Primary School welcomed local children’s book author and illustrator Kevin Payne to the school recently.
For Kevin, it was a return to his old stomping ground as he used to work as a teacher at the school.
He spent Friday, May 4 working with a number of children across the school and led an assembly in which he talked about his new book, B is for Blobfish, an animal picture book for young children.
‘The children enjoyed learning about how he got the ideas for the book and how he was able to pull them together for the finished version,’ said headteacher Nick Alford.
‘He also gave them a lesson in drawing animal characters.’
Children in the junior classes all enjoyed workshops where he gave them tips and ideas to improve their own writing. He finished the day by running a session for talented writers at the school.
