SHEBBEAR College recently welcomed visitors from a school in Poland, who were on an educational trip to England.

On Thursday (September 7) 34 senior pupils and their teachers from a school in Wroclaw, Poland visited the college and took part in a number of activities.

The group were staying at an activities centre in Okehampton and wanted to visit a British school to find out more about education in the UK.

After being shown around Shebbear College by a group of willing fifth and sixth formers, the students were joined by 30 Shebbear students who will be attending an education enrichment trip to Krakow, Poland in February 2018.

Mr Charman, marketing manager, attempted to welcome the guests in Polish, ably assisted by Shebbear College sixth former Antonia Aliberti. Then, the Polish pupils gave a presentation about their beautiful city, school and culture.

Mr Rogers, head of history and religious studies, gave an inspiring talk about his Polish grandfather and highlighted the strong links between our two countries.

Following this Mrs Aliberti, modern languages teacher, hosted an amusing game where students attempted to pronounce tricky Polish and English words.

A college spokesperson said that the visit provided a very enjoyable cultural exchange for both schools.
