PUPILS from primary schools across West Devon laced up their trainers to take part in the Castle Drogo Cross Country Run on Tuesday morning.
The inter-school cross country run was hosted by the National Trust and between the wintry showers, teams of runners from Okehampton, South Tawton, North Tawton, Bridestowe, Boasley Cross, LewTrenchard, Hatherleigh, Whitchurch, St Peter’s and St Andrew’s primary schools took part in the 1.5 mile race.
The running event was organised by OCRA and South Tawton was crowned team winner of the large schools for the girls; St Andrew’s was team winner of the large school for the boys and Lew Trenchard won both girls’ and boys’ categories for the team winner for the small schools.
After the races had finished the children joined Woodland Trust members to create some woodland art from sticks, bark, leaves and cones. A range of colours and textures helped the imaginative children to make natural art pictures of a witch, an elephant and Drogo the Dragon.
