GRANDPARENTS' involvement in looking after their grandchildren was recently celebrated at a special event in Okehampton.
The event was organised by Okehampton Children's Centre to commemorate the work grandparents do looking after their grandchildren.
Many grandparents attend sessions held by the centre with under 5s, and the afternoon tea event at the Parish Church Hall was held just for them.
Fellow grandparent Sue Leech, who attends many of the centre's sessions, celebrated her 60th birthday at the event. She said she wanted to celebrate the milestone with other grandparents and to recognise the good work they play in their grandchildren's lives.
Children's centre co-ordinator Ruth Bushell said: 'We work with over 200 families in the north of the borough and their are many grandparents who come along to our session.
'This event was designed to celebrate the work that they do in looking after their families.'
