A GREAT time was had by all the Inwardleigh and Folly Gate Country Fair on Sunday (June 16).
The village event included a dog show, skittles and the judging of the scarecrows which have been appearing around the parish in recent weeks. Invited on the theme of famous dads, entries included Prince Harry, Harry Redknapp and two Darth Vaders, but it was a scarecrow of Homer Simpson, dad of TV family The Simpsons, which won the contest. The tea tent offered free cake to all dads, as it was Father’s Day, and there were performances by the new Inwardleigh and Folly Gate community choir and the Hatherleigh Ukulele Bashers. In the craft tent William Hooper, five, won the Children’s Cup and his grandma Brenda Hooper the Adults’ Cup, after gaining the most points in their respective sections. The village event was organised by the parish fundraising committee, which pays for community extras including trips to the seaside and the pantomime and a children’s Christmas party.
