CELEBRATE a mysterious time of year this weekend with a concert to see in Hollantide.
The night before Hollantide or All-Hallows has become better known than Hallowe'en itself, but Hollantide (November 1) and the following day, All Souls, used to be significant English festivals and this year people are being invited to revive some Hollantide traditions at Chagford's Jubilee Hall.
Local band Woodwose and friends will be playing an evening of 'phantasmagoria' — a mix of Gothic stories, medieval music and special effects, with Steve Tyler on hurdy-gurdy, Katy Marchant on pipes, Jake Slocombe on stringed instruments and Nick Groom providing the words.
The Hollantide Phantasmagoria will be held on November 1 at 7.30pm. Traditional drinks and seasonal soul-cakes will be available. Tickets are £8 from Sally's Newsagent or by calling 01837 840824 or visit http://www.woodwosemusic.com">www.woodwosemusic.com
