OKEHAMPTON COLLEGE’S sponsored walk will take place once again this year on Friday, September 9.

PE teacher Matthew Bailey said: ‘This is a very successful whole school activity that not only brings the college community together but also raises large amounts of money for a range of charities.’

This year’s sponsored walk will see Okehampton College students and staff amble across the moor in aid of good causes.

Students from Year 7 to 11 will be walking approximately 8-miles in a circular route from the college out on to the moor and back again. 

Up to 1,400 students and staff will be raising money for the Devon Air Ambulance, Macmillan Nurses, Wateraid and the Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education.

Mr Bailey said that every effort is made to minimise disruption to the general public and reduce litter to zero with numerous check points along the route, and if members of the public wish to come and cheer them on, the college would be very pleased to see them.
