THE Okehampton Cycling Club Summer time trial series continued last week on a dry evening with 17 riders taking part in the 10 mile course which traces the old A30 road from Bridestowe to Lewdown and back.
Okehampton resident Steve Sage (Southfork Racing) took advantage of the fine conditions to stamp his authority on the event by achieving an impressive new course record of 23 minutes 36 seconds beating the old record which he also held by a mighty 36 seconds. He was fastest by a wide margin with Andy Retter second on 26.33.

Last Sunday the club ran a successful road race event at Brentor in which over 100 riders took part. The event was organised by Andy Retter and was assisted by members and friends of the club. There were three category races including a womans race. Club members Gary Sprague, Andy Stokes and Emily Adkin took part.
