OKEHAMPTON Cycle Club's final open 10 mile time trial  of the season last Wednesday evening drew an entry of 75 riders from cycle clubs all over the South West. Despite heavy cloud cover which threatened rain the wind conditions were good and this resulted in some fast times.

The course starts on the A30 dual carriageway 2.1 miles west of Sourton and proceeds towards Launceston before turning at the  Stowford Cross slip road  crossing the flyover bridge and returning on the eastbound carriageway to the finish. The time trial was won by Blake Pond  who  clocked an impressive time of  20 minutes 03 seconds. Okehamption resident Steve Sage, who also rides for North Devon Southfork Racing club, was second with 20.36.

Results: Blake Pond (Southfork), 20.03;    S Sage (Southfork), 20.36; L Obornik (Revo Racing), 21.03;  S Edney (RN & RMCA) 21.14.

There was  good representation from  Okehampton CC members with the best placed rider being  Mike Cory on 23.33. It was a successful ride for Emily Adkin - the fastest lady rider - with a time of 24.09. Special praise to the club's youngest juvenile riders Emily Attfield and Peter Jarman on completing their first open time trial event in commendable times.
