WEST Devon Borough has put a valuation of between £10,000 and £12,000 on a parcel of land called Clapp's Wood, in Okehampton.

The authority has agreed in principle to the disposal of the land.

The land, near the Somerfield store, has been tidied up by the Ockment Rivers Improvement Group, which has added a public footpath.

But despite the borough's estimate, the town council's parks committee on Monday decided to ask town clerk Don Bent to write to the borough council and offer the token sum of £1 for taking over the responsibility of the land.
