A RUNNER from Lifton raised several hundred pounds towards the project to build a community centre in the village, by running a marathon in Dublin.

Vin Marshall, along with fellow Launceston Road Runners Jon Spettigue and Andy Young, recently ran the Airtricity Dublin Marathon alongside 13,000 other runners.

All three had a good run over this one-lap undulating course, starting and finishing close to the city centre, and the running conditions were good. Andy finished in a time of 3.45.15, Jon’s time of 3.59.05 was a personal best for him and Vin completed in 4.35.32.

Vin has run a number of marathons and has to date raised £302 for her chosen charity, the Lifton Community Centre project.

She said: ‘I am thrilled to have raised more funds towards the building of the centre and if all goes well, the building will start in 2016.’
