Okehampton podcast group Sadboy Squad continue to grow in popularity as they surpass 1,000 listeners.

The four friends behind the podcast (Jordan, Jed, Bradley and Tyler) started the town’s first podcast to tackle the stigma behind and raise awareness of men’s mental health issues in late 2021. Since then, the boys have received an overwhelmingly positive response, clocked up over 2,000 followers over their social media accounts and have now banked over 1,000 streams.

The boys are now also attracting listeners from abroad in countries such as the USA who have discovered the podcast of their own volition.

Whilst benfiting from speaking with one another about their experiences, the group hope their podcast will help others who are in similar situations to ones they have been in.

Each podcast recorded follows a natural, real-life conversation which discusses a range of different topics such as relationships, sport, insecurities, anxiety, medication, tattoos, jobs and sobriety all of which are approached in a gritty and uncensored way. More recently, they have introduced guests and run features in which they pose quickfire questions to one another and answer questions they have been sent in by listeners on Instagram. Every episode is titled after a name.

After being unable to record for a brief hiatus over Christmas, the boys are now back to recording weekly episodes, which they do from Okehampton’s recording studio, owned by Jed’s dad who lets them use the room.

All episodes can be listened to on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and/or Google Podcasts.
