THE Cogs and Wheels Ladies Morris had a successful weekend at the Swanage Folk Festival.

Their lively but graceful style of Cotswold and Border dance was very well received by ‘folkies’ and holidaymakers alike. They danced with other sides along the sea-front, in the town and at the gates of Corfe Castle, finishing on the beach with their traditional ‘surf-dancing’ in their Victorian-style bloomers.

Other festivals the group attended this year were at Sidmouth and South Zeal, Lustleigh May Day plus an appearance at Okehampton Show, braving the rain to dance in a very muddy arena.

Out of 18 ‘stands’ at pubs in the Dartmoor area, only one was cancelled because of abysmal weather.

In addition to their weekly performances at pubs, Cogs and Wheels have a sociable time with their talented musicians and singers at music sessions.
