AN exhibition revealing past and present life in Throwleigh is to take place in November to launch a book about the parish.

The exhibition, organised by the Throwleigh Archive, is being held to launch the reprint of the archive's book Throwleigh: Pictures and Memories of a Dartmoor Parish.

The book has more than 250 pictures from the archive, with explanatory text about places and interesting village characters.

The exhibition will display several hundred photographs from the archive, many not displayed in the book, and gives an insight into the lives of some of the fascinating people who have lived and worked in the parish, and buildings and features which have changed or disappeared.

The Throwleigh Archive was conceived in 1999, and since then hundreds of photographs relating to the parish, both old and new, have been electronically recorded.

In addition, other material and artefacts have been added, and voice recordings of local people's memories contribute to the collection.

The exhibition will be in Throwleigh Village Hall on November 2 and 3, from 10am to 5pm each day with free admission.

The book will be available to buy for £16 at the exhibition, by calling 01647 231051 or 01647 231213, or by e-mail on [email protected]">[email protected]
