Chagford seconds v Kingskerswell seconds

BATTING first Chagford made a steady start through Filor and Holland, and put on 65 for the first wicket before Filor was dismissed for 28. Jules Baker then smashed 50 off 45 balls in a partnership of 68 with Peter Holland. Niven hit a cameo 15 before Holland was well caught for 56 with the score at 158.

The innings closed at 186-7 off the weather reduced 43 overs. Noble for Kingskerswell bowled accurately in his 12 overs to finish with 1-20.

This season the Kings' batting has been scoring heavily, but Tim Pitts Tucker, bowling aggressively and Ken Moss with Line and length restricted the opening batsmen but it was Pitts-Tucker who dismissed Jones (6) M Etherington (19) and Waters (3) to leave the Kings' men on 29-3.

C Hurrell and Powell then put together a threatening partnership but Wakefield dismissed Powell for 25 and former first team skipper Hurrell was superbly run out by Ridgers and the rest of the batting succumbed to the wiles of Wakefield and stand-in skipper Steve Sizmur to finish on.114 all out. Pitts-Tucker 3-46, Wakefield 3-17 and Sizmur 3-15 shared the wickets. Skipper Steve Sizmur paid tribute to Tim Pitts-Tucker. whose early wickets against their in-form batsmen paved the way.
