TWELVE people from the Turning Tides Project have recently worked towards and achieved a City and Guilds Train the Trainer qualification.

Vicky Hooper from Turning Tides said: ‘Designing and delivering training around issues that are important to those who are disabled is very much part of how we see our project making a difference in society and enabling us to become a sustainable community interest company. We now have 12 qualified trainers which will help us move forward with our aspirations to help and teach others.

‘Gaining this qualification was quite a challenge in many ways. Initially we had to embark on a huge piece of work to make all the information accessible to people who learn differently.

‘We had to collaborate with City and Guilds to ensure they were happy with the way we had re-designed the content of their qualification. We had to give consideration to each individual’s learning style and adapt and support accordingly. Everyone worked really hard and as you can imagine we’re delighted and extremely proud to hear of their achievements.’

The project shared their achievements at a graduation ceremony at the King’s Arms, Okehampton in September.
