West Devon is the top place in the South West to grow old, a study has concluded.

According to a survey carried out by care home operator, Lovett Care, West Devon has the lowest rate of hospital admissions for falls among over 65s and the fastest rate for GP appointments with over 91 percent seen on the same or next day.

The region also has the second-lowest rate of hospital admissions for hip fractures in England, and the region’s second-best provision of Post Offices and railway stations and the third-cleanest air.

South Gloucestershire scores as the second-best place to grow old in the region, followed by Stroud in third place and Plymouth in fourth.
