The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for areas across the South West on Friday, October 23, from midnight to midday.
Strong west to northwesterly winds may spread across Devon, causing a risk of travel delays and damage from falling debris.
According to the Met Office, gusts of 50-60mph are possible inland, while some coastal or exposed areas could see winds of 70mph or more.
The forecaster also warned that periods of heavy rain could make travel more difficult.
While it will remain breezy, winds are expected to ease from late morning into the early afternoon. The exact timing and areas likely to experience the strongest winds remain uncertain.
The warning highlights potential disruption to road, rail, air and ferry services, as well as possible power cuts and damage to buildings from falling debris. Along the coast, large waves could pose a danger to people near sea fronts and coastal roads.
The Met Office advises people to secure loose items outside their homes, including garden furniture and bins, check travel conditions before setting off and prepare for possible power cuts by keeping torches, batteries and a charged mobile phone or power bank to hand.
People visiting the coast are also urged to keep their distance from the sea, as large waves can sweep people off their feet even from the shore.
