SEVENTEEN teams from West Devon primary schools took part in the first School Games event of the school year. Eight Year 3/4 teams and nine Year 5/6 teams played for the honour of representing West Devon at the county finals.

While the older girls played each other in a league format, the younger girls started with pools of four.

Horrabridge had three teams, St Andrew’s, Okehampton, Boasley Cross, St Peter’s and the Federation schools of Bridestowe, Exbourne and Lydford, combined had one team.

Horrabridge A, St Andrew’s, Okehampton and Boasley Cross reached the semi-finals with Horrabridge A and Okehampton winning through to the final.

The final was an exciting game with Horrabridge just edging out Okehampton 2-1 to win the trophy and the gold medals. St Andrew’s beat Boasley Cross in the third/fourth place play-off to take the bronze medals.

Horrabridge A also won the year 5/6 competition with their B team in second place and St Andrew’s A in third. Horrabridge A were undefeated throughout the event.
