Tavistock U12s 10

Ivybridge U12s 60

ON a sunny day at Sandy Park, Tavistock U12s played a strong well drilled Ivybridge team. The teams played three mini games and in the first game Ivybridge dominated with a five tries with no reply from a slow starting Tavistock

It was some good try saving tackles from Tavistock’s Ben Madar, and Ethan Baker that stopped Ivybridge from going further ahead.

The second game was much closer with Tavistock scrum half Luke Burbage passing the ball out well from the scrums and Joel Blake and Ted Wilkinson making yards with some direct running. Brandon Gilder, Rufus Mckensie-Smith and Sam Palmer were strong in the rucks, which ultimately led to the first try for Tavistock scored by Archie Wall in the corner from five yards out.

Ivybridge went on to score more tries in the final game but a highlight for Tavistock was a weaving run from Sam Perkins which allowed Brandon Hunt to storm through to the try line from the resultant ruck.

Ted Wilkinson won the Tavistock TREDS award this week for teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.

Bideford U10s 7 tries

Okehampton U10s 8 tries

BIDEFORD took full advantage of a strong start to open the scoring from short range. Okehampton hit straight back from the restart as Ciaran scythed through the opposition to score.

Strong tackling from Dylan and Lewis forced a turnover ball and Oke moved it swiftly through the backs to set Toby free to score. Toby quickly followed with a second after a superb solo effort.

Ferocious tackling from Jacob and Dylan kept Bideford on the back foot and Todd pounced on a loose ball to feed Wilf, who streaked away to score.

Bideford made their strength start to count as they repeatedly ripped the ball in the tackle and evened up the scores. Oke replied with a beautifully worked try as Ciaran made sharp break and spun a long pass to Wilf, who beat two defenders and popped the ball to Todd who found the perfect pass to Thomas on the wing to finish the move in style.

Oke showed incredible determination in defence with many players putting their bodies on the line.

Stanley superbly turned defence into attack with an audacious ripped ball and full length of the pitch sprint to score. Dylan S followed this with a well worked solo try and Jacob finished a thoroughly entertaining match in style as he jinked and weaved through the Bideford tackles to score in the corner.

THE second match was another hard fought and skilful encounter. Again Bideford scored first as Oke were caught napping. From the restart Lewis made a great burst with Zara showing good skills in the resultant ruck to feed the ball on to Riley, who found Toby in space to score in the corner.

Bideford ground their way towards the Oke line as Oke made them fight for every inch.

Jacob and Dylan again led the defensive efforts with tackle after crunching tackle, Mikey showed great strength to drive a Bideford attack back just as it seemed inevitable that they would score.

Oke finally released the pressure as Dylan snaffled the ball and broke from his own line to feed the ball to Toby who scampered through the entire team to score another try.

The game opened up as the legs began to tire on both sides but this just gave Toby more space to score another scintillating solo effort. Two final tries capped a great team performance as both Ciaran and Lewis put the finishing touches to some sweeping moves.
