POLICE are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of 65 year-old John Davey from North Tawton.

John was last seen in the Gowmans Terrace, North Tawton area at around 6.15am on Wednesday, September 16, although there has been one report of him catching the 6.55am 5c bus from North Tawton to Exeter later that morning.

The person who saw him on the bus said they have reported this to the police.

It is believed he took a backpack and cane or walking stick with him and that he did not take his mobility scooter.

John is described as a white male, 5’6, slim build, long white hair (usually in a ponytail), long white beard with a plait at the bottom.

Police were knocking door to door in North Tawton during the evening of Wednesday, September 16.

Jane Webber said on Facebook: “John is quite quiet spoken and very polite. A gentle man.

“He has a love of nature and wildlife, often spending time in the countryside, chilling out and enjoying the wildlife around him.

“He is much thought about in the North Tawton area and surrounds.

“If anyone can help, even if you’re not sure if it will make a difference, any nugget of information - please do get in touch with the police.”
