THE A30 was blocked late last night (March 22) because of a multi-vehicle collision at Stowford Cross, between Okehampton and Launceston.

Fire services were called to assist reports of a six vehicle collision in snowy and icy conditions at around 11pm on Wednesday night.

Three appliances and a heavy rescue unit were mobilised to the incident due to initial reports of possible persons reported trapped.

Once in attendance crews located a collision involving six vehicles and found that no one was trapped.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: ’There were no persons trapped within the vehicle, crews assisted in making the vehicles safe and assisting police and ambulance. The heavy rescue unit was stood down.’
