A HORSE rider has died after an incident in West Devon last week.

Police were called at around 11.35am on Friday, December 14 to reports of a female rider having been thrown from her horse at Hayne Cross, Lewdown.

A 64-year-old woman from Launceston had initially sustained a head injury but also suffered a medical episode at the scene following her fall. She was initially treated at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to Derriford Hospital. Police were informed that she later died.

A police investigation was launched following this incident and all witnesses were identified.

Following enquiries, police were satisfied that there was no third party involvement into this incident and that no further policing action was required at this time.

Next of kin has been informed and a file is to be prepared for the coroner.
