A bonfire built for a family-friendly event raises funds for the Mary Tavy Victory Memorial Recreation Ground Trust and the Coronation Hall.

Local man, John Hill organises the bonfire night held at the Recreation Ground – and it’s become a tradition, now in its fourteenth year.

The event, run entirely by local volunteers, includes a firework display, a bar, a BBQ, a merry-go-round and music.

John said: “Our biggest event is the fireworks alongside a traditional bonfire built by the ‘Mary Tavy men’ – a great excuse to get them out of the house! The best thing about it seeing local kids and families enjoying the freedom of the event.”

The Mary Tavy Post Office and Londis is also “proud to sponsor for the event”, which takes place on Sunday, November 1, from 5pm onwards.
