NORTH Devon’s oldest school Shebbear College is celebrating its 175th birthday this year by opening two brand new buildings.
A smart new pavilion, which houses the sixth form centre, and a state-of-the-art music block, which has a Steinway piano and a recording studio have been built.
The pavilion has been finished in time for the new cricket season and the first XI cricket team played their first match against Hampshire Collegiate in front of the imposing new building recently.
They were supported by sixth formers who are preparing for their A-Levels.
The celebrations will continue with a special grand midsummer ball.
The event is being hosted by the Friends of Shebbear College and the Old Shebbearians’ Association.
