NETWORK Rail has apologised to the public for its late notice in letting people know about an 11-day road closure on the B3215 Okehampton to Crediton road near North Tawton.

A section of the road will be closed from tonight until August 28 and diversions put in place to enable work on Greenslade Bridge by Network Rail as part of the upgrades to the Dartmoor Line from Okehampton to Exeter..

In a statement to the Times today Network Rail said: ’As part of our ongoing work to reopen the Dartmoor Line, we need to upgrade and repair the steel on Greenslade bridge. This work will start this evening (Tuesday, August 17) at 10pm and be completed Saturday, August 28.

“During this time, part of the B3215 road will be closed and a diversion will be in place.

“We are sending a letter to local residents providing further details of this work including a map of the diversion route and we would like to apologise for the late notice.

“We recognise this diversion will add time to people’s journeys and thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time.”

The following diversions have been put in place:

If you’re travelling from Okehampton, take the B3260 Exeter Road towards A30, join A30 and then leave and join A3124 and re-join A3072 at Greenslade Bridge.

If you’re travelling from Crediton, take A377 then onto A3072. At Greenslade Bridge, turn left onto A3124 to A30. Then take a right and join A30 to Okehampton.
