ON a wet pitch Okehampton started strongly with the forwards providing good quick ball for the backs to run into the heart of the visitors' defence.
Scrum half Jack Raymond picked up from the back of a ruck and passed to fly half Daniel Thorne who spun out of two tackles and drove over to score Okehamptons first try, which he also converted, Crediton continued to pressurise, orchestrated by their talented fly half who was given too much time and space but it was the Okes who struck another blow through a player on loan for the day from a touring side from Surrey and played extremely well throughout the game. The conversion hit the crossbar.
Crediton hit back with a converted try to narrow the gap at half time.
After the break it was all Crediton but the Okes kept them out with Daniel Thorne making an excellent try saving tackle and the forwards working hard to resist some determined drives over the line by the opposition pack.
Okehampton drove back up the pitch exerting pressure of their own through Joe Mawle, Tom Bayley and Patrick Beacom running strongly.
Injury forced the home side to play the last 10 minutes with only 11 players with centre Liam Pyle moving to scrum half where he played well and forced the opposing fly half onto the back foot. The young Okes continued to defend well and protect their lead for a deserved victory.

BACK on the pitch after a weather enforced sabbatical, Oke U10s maintained their unbeaten run after this competent performance.
Local rivals Crediton were comfortably defeated in a match that became scrappy due to the muddy surface and decreased playing area. Try scorers in the first period for the Okes' were Adam Wonnacott with a forceful effort and Jack Ogbourne showing good poacher's instincts.
In the second half there were further scores for the team's top scorers, Greg Daniel with a single and a double for the Leon Horne.
In the second game, Okes took the opportunity to use all the players within their squad and they went down in a close contest by 10-5.
Alfie Gillespie forcing himself over for the Oke's solitary late score.

Okehampton returned to play their main fixture against Crediton, and also several games against a touring side from Surrey, Effingham and Leatherhead. For some of the players it was the first time they had played with a grandstand full of supporters.
The games were played as a mini tournament, with Okehampton fielding two squads. There was a mixture of wins and losses against the touring side, with the Oke side taking some time to get into their stride.
Despite several knocks and injuries, they dug deep and tries came from Nathan Tomkins, Daniel Turney and Imogen Ogbourne.
The home side played a better game against Crediton and despite it being their last match and suffering from tired legs, they were able to hold them to a well deserved draw.
Once again, Nathan was strong in attack and defence.
