Okehampton ladies'

Columbines 3

Kingsbridge and Salcombe ladies 1

OKEHAMPTON ladies had previously lost to Kingsbridge and Salcombe in the first half of the season 4-2.

Kingsbridge is a young team with fast stick work and sprinting ability and the pitch had a certain softness that led to errors by both teams.

Both teams began a little tentatively.  An early short corner led by a strong push by Jane Jones following a pass from Jo Moppett, who duly put Oke into the lead.

The game gained momentum with all players fully engaged as the ball moved from end to end and side to side.  Okehampton were covering well in the circle as Kingsbridge attacked down their right wing.

A long corner led to a multitude of players in the circle and Kingsbridge scored after several attempts after a melee in the D.

Okehampton then gained more control thats Carol Taylor and Jane Jones blocking their opponents breaking away and distributed well the ball into the attack, while Sophie Whiteley was masterly in goal.

Rachel Hammett and Katie Graves worked well together for Oke to feed the ball through from the right and Louise Weller and Alex Collins similarly on the right.  Jo Moppett made several solo runs with most ending with shots that went close.

A nifty pass from Louise Weller into the circle was fed by Rachel Hammet to Jo Moppett who cracked it in to put Okehampton 2-1 up.

Wicked runs by Kingsbridge's centre forward  and slick passing down their left wing kept Okehampton on their toes.

A well taken short corner from Viv Weatherington to Jo Moppett gave Jo the opportunity for her second and Okehampton's third goal.
