Whitchurch seconds v

Bridestowe seconds

THE home side won the toss and elected to field looking to make early inroads. Unfortunately for them that did not happen as Shaw and Batstone adapted to the conditions and settled in for a long stay at the crease.

At the halfway mark, Bridestowe were 120 for no loss and looking ominous.

Shaw completed his century and was hungry to add more runs. 189 had been added when a fine stop and throw from Ian Prout dismissed

Batstone for 36. Whitchurch mixed the bowling up, but it was only Nathan Prout that found any success. He took 3-42, including dismissing Shaw for 154, five balls short of carrying his bat for the innings.

Whitchurch seconds needed a solid start but were soon 3-2. It then became a question of amassing batting points, led by Hodge(25).

The Bridestowe wickets were led by Lee (3-6), Vallance (2 -11) and Harris (2-17) and Whitchurch were dismissed for 105.
