Okehampton ladies’ firsts 4

OKEHAMPTON travelled down to Totnes for the final time this season to play second in the league Dart.

The game started well with Okehampton passing the ball around between the forwards Lesley Bingham, Nicky Strawbridge and Rochelle Woollacott but it was Kim Davey who took the ball into the D who smashed it into top left corner.

The midfield and defence worked hard with Hannah Whiteley intercepting well, keeping Dart out of the Oke D. Swift passes between Laura Parsons, Sophie Whiteley, Emily Rowlands and Lucy Wiseman took the ball up into D where the ball was lifted up in the air. Davey pounced on it and volleyed it in the goal making the score 2-0 to the visitors. Strawbridge nifty stick work came through, taking on players with her speed to make it 3-0 at half time.

Dart came out fighting after the interval but Okehampton were able to keep any chances they had at bay and Nicky Pedrick slipped the ball to Sophie Whiteley, who slotted it across to Davey who weaved in and out and placed the ball pass the keeper to secure her hat-trick. Dart continued to press and after lots of pressure on the goal mouth a penalty flick was awarded but with player of the match Carol Newman saving the flick — the game finished 4-0 to Okehampton.
