CULM UNITED 1

OKEHAMPTON ARGYLE RESERVES 1

OKEHAMPTON reserves started the new year with a tough trip to Culm. The pitch, which was lucky to survive the 90 minutes, made life incredibly difficult for the visitors to play their usual passing game.

Despite early chances for Okehampton they found themselves defending for large periods of the opening exchanges. They stood resolute thanks in no small part to Tom Dennis in the Argyle goal who pulled off a number of fingertip saves to keep his team level. However, Dennis could do nothing about a deflected free kick for Culm on the half hour mark which was nothing more than they deserved on the balance of play.

Okehampton responded well, however, and were unlucky to go in at the break still behind.

The second half started as the first had finished with Argyle pushing to level the game. Josh Tickner, Harry Tickner and Steve Madge all went close but the visitors still could not find a way through as they entered the final stages of the game with their unbeaten run on the line.

However, with five minutes to go Harry Tickner finally found some space on the edge of the box and nestled the ball into the bottom corner. Oke had time to find a winner but were lucky to escape with anything when Culm hit the bar in the last minute.
