Oke ladies’ seconds 8

Dart ladies’ thirds 1

OKEHAMPTON seconds travelled to a warm and sunny Totnes with high hopes of a win against Dart thirds.

After a rushed arrival the visitors took a while to get their eye in and conceded an early goal to Totnes. The pitch was new and bouncy but this did not stop forward Alex Collins from quickly equalising. There was no stopping her and she quickly consolidated this with a second goal. Rochelle Woolacott grew more competitive and subsequently slammed in two of her own goals.

Not to be outdone, and new to the second team Nicky Strawbridge, used her speed and skill to score a brace of her own.

The whole team worked as one unit, passing forward, back and diagonally, using quick short passes to keep the ball in the opposition’s half.

The Oke wings, Ellie Shayler and Zoe Curtis, worked tirelessly up and down the pitch both attacking and defending in equal measure. Defenders, Debbie Pritchard and Anna Luxton gave massive support to the midfield coming up to attack. Emma Wiseman, Nicola Bennie and goalie Daisy Morgan formed a quality central defence.

Solid teamwork enabled another goal, this time from winger, Louise Weller, who positioned at the top of the D, got hold of a ball from Rochelle Woolacott and hit the ball home. Competition between Okehampton players for the most goals scored in this match spurred Alex Collins on to finalise the game with one more goal getting a hat-trick.

This was a fantastic result for Okehampton seconds with player of the match Ellie Shayler.
