OKEHAMPTON College has achieved another fantastic set of GCSE results with around 81% of students achieving grades A* to C.
Spirits were high today (August 25) as pupils descended on the college to receive their highly anticipated results.
The Year 11 students have performed extremely well in their GCSE exams with 71% of students achieving grades A* to C in maths and 76% gaining grade C or better in English.
Among the the top performing pupils were: Alice Newton who achieved eleven A* grades; Beth Pyle who gained ten A* grades and one A grade; Sol Rowe-Welch who accomplished ten A* grades; Sam Cook who received seven A* grades and four A grades; Lilian Way who attained six A* grades, four As and a B; Katie Jecks who accomplished six A* and four A grades; Lewis Johns who achieved five A* grades and five A grades and Sadie Ash, who gained five A* grades, five A grades and one B.

Fellow student Grace Farrelly, who suffers with panic attacks, was also chuffed with her results. Grace said: ’Earlier in the year my panic attacks were really bad, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to sit my exams. I anticipated getting Ds and Es, so I am over the moon to find out I got A, B and C grades!’
A very happy Lewis Johns said: ’I’m pleased with my results and want to thank all the teachers for their support. Choosing to come back to Okehampton College to start my A-Levels in September was a no-brainer.’
Derrick Brett, head of secondary education at Okehampton College said: ’As a year group they have been very inclusive and have looked out for one another. It is so pleasing to see some exceptional results.
While we hope to see the majority of students returning here for their post-16 education, we know that some are off to new challenges and we wish each and everyone of them success for the future.’
