STUDENTS at Okehampton College had the chance to find out more about future careers at an event held at the school recently.

The day was organised by assistant principal Vicky Thornton, who invited other colleges and potential employers to come along to the day on Wednesday, October 18.

Among the many and varied careers suggested to students were firefighting with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and civil engineering with South West Highways.

Those interested in staying on at school could meet representatives of the college’s own Post 16 department. They could also find out about other courses being held at Cornwall College. Some 20 organisations took part.
