OKEHAMPTON College’s school council has raised thousands of pounds with a ten mile walk — and part of the money has been used for two new outdoor table tennis tables.
Once a year, the college embarks on the walk to raise money for the PTFA and other charities.
Ryan Harnell, a student involved with the school council, said: ’Aside from building friendships that last all through our College years, we bear, as a school, another goal in mind: charity. Whilst we laugh and sing and dance we support good causes both local, national and international. This year we helped raise money for Okehampton College PTFA, Veterans with Dogs, FORCE Cancer Charity, Save the Children and WWF.’
The college used the money raised for the PTFA — £1,486.43 — to purchase two outdoor table tennis table for students to use during break times. The PTFA is looking into buying a couple more tables in the hope more students will be encouraged to use them and potentially join local clubs.
