Saltash U15s 12

Okehampton U15s 12

THIS was a close match which was vigorously contested from end to end.

Once again Okes forwards dominated the scrums, with Baker often winning ball against the head and throwing well at line outs. Joint players of the match were Nash, with committed tackling, and Webb, who competed strongly at line outs and picked up on the fringes of play for some good runs.

Liversidge with his usual skill sniped and harried to open the score for Okes with a try which was converted by Simmons. Saltash then equalised with a try from their number 14 under the posts which was duly converted. Due to the strength of both sides play did not flow.

The second half started with Okes taking the lead, with the ball passing through many hands. Okes held their nerve and kept picking and driving, Giles-Phillips competing ferociously for the ball, to reach Pillivant who crossed the line to score. Unfortunately Okes were unable to convert.

Saltash then stepped up their game but Oke's Cooper made some try saving tackles. Mortimore played out of position on the wing and bundled the opposition unceremoniously out into touch.

However, the pressure mounted and Saltash equalised in a well matched and enjoyable game.
