Devon and Exeter three

Tedburn St Mary 2

SOUTH Zeal started slowly on Saturday and paid the penalty early in the game when Tedburn deservedly took the lead after a good move opened up the visitors' defence and a good finish gave keeper Reg Wonnacott no chance.

The rest of the half saw South Zeal produce some of the best football that they have played for weeks and after going close on a few occasions Darren Gilbert squeezed between a Tedburn defender and their keeper and put the visitors level with an accurate lob.

South Zeal were again slow to get started in the second half but after 10 minutes took the lead with a great move involving Daniel Gibbs, Scott Hooper and Phil Evans to put Harley Cann through on the left hand side and the latter scored a great goal from an acute angle.

The visitors could have increased their lead several times with many near misses including an header from Harley Cann which hit the Tedburn upright. However, it was all Tedburn in the final 15 minutes and they scored a deserved equaliser five minutes from time from a penalty — although goalie Reg Wonnacott made a great save from the spot kick the rebound was put home by a Tedburn forward to give the home side a point.
