ARTIST David Beer will be holding an exhibition of paintings entitled ‘Stranger in Town’ at Art at the Works on Dolvin Road, Tavistock.

David Beer lives in the village of Menheniot, near Liskeard, Cornwall. He has two studios, one in the village and one in the Liskerrett Community Centre in Liskeard. In these he produces two styles of artwork focusing on landscapes and seascapes in oils using a palette knife and figure drawings of dancers and life models using charcoal and acrylics.

David started to develop his artwork in 1986 when he moved to St Ives, a town he had been greatly attracted to by having previously attended art courses at the St Ives School of Painting. The Cornish seaside town was an inspirational place to live and work and he opened a gallery selling his own work and that of other talented artists. During the next 16 years he exhibited in a number of galleries in the UK and one in New York.

Having lived in Saltash and Menheniot since 2009 David has concentrated on his two forms of artwork exhibiting in galleries and undertaking commissions for people who would like them.

The exhibition runs from August 15 to August 20.
