Hatherleigh Silver Band held the first session of its second Brassed Up summer school last week to the delight of many excited children.
Under the leadership of Training Band MD Emma Heard and the Silver Band MD Ed Keeley, they put together a full timetable, balancing both music tuition and fun, culminating in a fantastic final performance at the end of the day. The summer school runs for three weeks.
Due to last year’s success, organisers added a Perc’d Up option for children wishing to learn percussion instruments.
Organisers have thanked community interest company Madewell for sponsoring the club, which has allowed them to offer the summer school free of charge to all children.
The holiday club is being held in memory of Hatherleigh Silver Band's trombonist, Robert Barkwell.
