St Andrew’s Primary School at Buckland Monachorum took part in a whole school running event in the Meadows in Tavistock.
The Christmas relay event was made possible through Okehampton Community Recreation Association (OCRA) and Tavistock Town Council and 120 pupils from Years 3-6 joined in on national Christmas Jumper Day and the School Games Santa Dash day on December 10.
The pupils were divided into 30 x Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 teams of four with Christmas attire encouraged.
Despite a late start due to the roadworks at Callington Road causing substantial traffic delays, the event was a great success and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves running with and supporting each other.
Gold and silver medals were awarded to the first two boys teams and girls teams in each age group. All participants received certificates.
